The Miracle Molecule
"The discovery of N-O and its function is one of the most important in the history of cardiovascular medicine.”
—Dr. Valentin Fuster
1998 President of the
American Heart Association
Nitric oxide is a gas with the chemical formula N-O (one molecule of nitrogen bound to one molecule of oxygen). Research on nitric oxide in the human body first began in the 1970s, and in 1992 the journal Science proclaimed it “The Molecule of the Year.”
In 1998, three pharmacologists were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their discovery that nitric oxide is a major signaling molecule in the cardiovascular system. N-O was the first gas ever to be identified as a signaling molecule.
Nitric oxide carries messages at the cellular level, able to efficiently penetrate cellular membranes because of its gaseous structure. N-O is abundant in the body, but it is unstable and short-lived, and thus must be renewed continuously. A large and growing body of research points to nitric oxide’s broad impact on health.
Nature centered. Science driven.
Building on the earlier prize-winning nitric oxide research studies, Drs. Nathan Bryan and Janet Zand joined forces to bring the best science to bear on the creation of a breakthrough N-O producing supplement. They co-founded Neogenis® Laboratories, a science and research driven company, in 2009, and serve as Chief Science Officers. In recent years, Neogenis® Labs has become known for its focus on the science of nitric oxide.
Dr. Bryan, one of today’s most recognized experts in nitric oxide research, is credited with a number of significant discoveries in nitric oxide function and metabolism; he has been published extensively in the field and holds nine patents or patents pending.
Dr. Zand is an award-winning practitioner with over 25 years of clinical experience in nutrition, herbalism, and alternative treatment modalities. She has co-authored several books in the health sciences.
Serving as the company’s third Chief Science Officer is Dr. John Ivy, with a PhD in exercise physiology. He has authored over 170 scientific papers and several books.
Neogenis® Laboratories is committed to ongoing research in the development of scientifically based, industry-leading supplements. To find out which Neogenis® products are right for you, click here.
